More About Baja Joe
Let me introduce myself…
Hi, I’m Greg, aka Baja Joe! lol I’m lucky, I fell in love with Baja early on. At 13 years old, it was a parents trip, at 16, a friend’s trip, at 18 I was making regular surfing & camping trips and by 1983 had my 1st trailer on La Salina Beach, KM71, at Poncho Tequila’s Camp, now known as Clam Beach. After 16 years, I bought my own lot and started building my dream home just down the beach.
In 1985, I decided to throw a Beach Party—the Corona Open, Beach Party & Volleyball Tournament. 21 years later attendance was over 600 people coming for the full moon in August. You can check out some pictures at, www.Mexfest.com.
Fast forward to 2015, Baja had lost a lot of American tourism. Since my background is in marketing, advertising & promotions, I started a marketing campaign “Baja Joe & Bear” about an American gringo, and his dog, living and promoting Baja, California, via radio. I aired 3,000 radio commercials across 4 Radio Stations: KPRI FM 102.1, MAX FM 105.7, ESPN 104.5, and the Mighty 1090 AM.
I was featured on channel 15, San Diego, in a segment of the TV show, “Crossing South: Seaside Eating and Golf”.
We placed cover stories in the American newspapers in Baja: the Gringo Gazette & The Baja Times. We also placed a cover story in The San Diego Reader—”Baja’s Back!” The entire time I have been in Baja, I have promoted this beautiful country to everyone I meet.
In 2016, I decided to share my dream home on Airbnb where I’m considered a Superhost; I named my place Baja Joe’s Hideout. The location is incredible, it’s less than 3 minutes to the Beach, between Rosarito Beach and Ensenada, and only 25 minutes to Valle de Guadalupe Wine Country.
